For a conversion question, include the category, starting value, source unit, destination unit, expected result, and the result you saw. For an app problem, include your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, and app version from Settings. Use a non-sensitive example.

Make a conversion

Choose a measurement category, select the From and To units, and enter a value. Search finds categories and units. Swap reverses the unit pair while keeping the entered value. Copy places the conversion on the clipboard; Share opens the system share sheet.

Use your device region’s decimal separator and correctly grouped digits, or enter the number without grouping. Scientific notation is supported, such as 1.25e-3 in an English region.

Favorites, history, and defaults

Tap Favorite to save a unit pair, then open it from Saved. Completed conversions are kept in Recent conversions when you finish entering a value, copy a result, or leave the app. Up to 50 recent conversions are stored on your device.

Swipe a favorite to remove it. Use Clear history in Saved to remove recent conversions. In Settings, choose your display precision or save the current unit pair as the default for your next launch.

Precision and unit conventions

Display precision controls how a result is shown. Rounding the display does not change the underlying conversion or establish measurement accuracy. Automatic precision uses scientific notation for very large or small values.

US liquid and Imperial volume units are separate. Pressure conversion preserves gauge, absolute, or differential reference states. Mercury and water column units use conventional factors. Temperatures are absolute scale values, with offsets; temperature differences require different factors. Values below absolute zero are not supported.

Each category includes a note about its scope. More information is available in Settings → Conversion notes.

Offline use and App Store purchases

Conversions, favorites, history, and settings work without an account or internet connection. Opening a support website or sending a shared result may require a connection.

In the upcoming version 1.4.0, standard conversions and the 4–20 mA tool remain available without a Toolkit purchase. Full Toolkit is an optional one-time in-app purchase. There are no subscriptions, advertisements, or Kanonix account sign-in. Apple handles purchases and payment information. Purchase and Restore Purchases require an App Store connection; verified ownership supports offline access to unlocked tools.

Field Tools in version 1.4.0

These details describe the upcoming version 1.4.0 update. Tool availability depends on your installed app version, device capabilities, and Toolkit access.

Open Field Tools for 4–20 mA, Pressure & Barometer, Level & Slope, Scan & Convert, Quick Measure, Magnetic Field, and Decibel Meter. Live pressure, level, and magnetic-field readings require compatible sensors and relevant Motion permission. Printed-text scanning requires a supported device and Camera permission. Manual values remain available when a sensor or camera is unavailable.

Scan & Convert requires you to review the value, sign, unit, category, and pressure reference before transferring a reading. It reads printed text, not analog dial pointers. Quick Measure accepts dimensions you enter and offers camera or LiDAR estimates on compatible devices with optional Camera permission. Send a distance or calculated rectangle area to the converter. Results depend on your inputs, device capability, measurement conditions, and, for area, the assumption of a rectangle. Camera estimates do not establish calibrated measurement accuracy.

Decibel Meter uses optional Microphone permission to display digital signal levels in dBFS. These are not calibrated sound-pressure levels (dB SPL or dBA) and must not be used to assess hearing safety.

For camera trouble, check Camera permission in the app’s system Settings and keep Converter in the foreground. Close other camera use, then return to the tool and start again. If an interruption persists, report the tool, device model, operating-system version, and exact message to support.

Pressure & Barometer distinguishes raw device readings, manual references, standard atmosphere, and eligible corrected readings. Use local absolute pressure at the same elevation and conditions; sea-level-adjusted weather pressure is unsuitable as a local reference. Absolute-pressure values cannot be negative.

Device Calibration supports local user-recorded corrections against a reference barometer, with separate verification and validity controls. Device calibration records remain accessible when pressure reference types match. Phone sensors provide estimates. User corrections do not establish traceable calibration, accreditation, or certified instrument accuracy.
